The IOGCC passed resolution 05.094 in October 2005 expressing the need for a national energy education program. Recognizing the growing vigor to formulate oil and gas energy education efforts, the IOGCC Public Outreach Committee developed a Communication Resource Guide to bring a better understanding to the dynamics of formulating a national oil and gas energy education effort. The guide categorizes oil and gas energy education and public outreach efforts by activity.
